01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

The fun starts with choosing how to season your takoyaki. At Takkun, options range from classic sauce to salt, ponzu, dashi soy sauce, spicy sauce, mentaiko mayonnaise and plain takoyaki, served without sauce. Go for the familiar richness of sauce or enjoy the dashi flavour on its own. Mustard mayonnaise and shichimi pepper are free; extra toppings such as mentaiko mayonnaise and spring onion are also available.

Takopettan, takoyaki wrapped in egg, offers a different way to enjoy the dish: the plain version is 300 yen and the cheese-and-mentaiko version is 400 yen. On a cold day, soup takoyaki, described as fragrant with spring onion and dashi, makes a warming choice. Some visitors report enjoying generously sized takoyaki, with plenty of octopus, as takeaway, though impressions of the size vary.

For lunch, the takoyaki set meal comes with 9 pieces, salad, rice, miso soup and pickles. Other options include set meals with yakisoba or sobameshi, a stir-fried noodle-and-rice dish. Listed prices are 600 yen for the takoyaki set, 600 yen for the yakisoba set and 650 yen for the sobameshi set. The menu also includes okonomiyaki and à la carte dishes; visitors have mentioned ordering sobameshi and buta-tama, a pork okonomiyaki. The restaurant has counter seating only, with reports suggesting room for around 5 people, and takeaway is available. It works for either a sit-down meal or a quick box of takoyaki to take away.
